Take a look underwater at a salmon ladder
Like so many other villages, Fällfors is home to a hydroelectric power station. Its unique feature, however, is the underwater view of the salmon ladder. You can already glimpse the ladder from the bridge, but the falun-reddish water usually obscure the salmon themselves. To the left after crossing the bridge, a staircase leads below the water's surface, where you can look directly into the water through a glass panel. Depending on the season and with a bit of luck, you can observe the salmon swimming. If you're less fortunate, you can use the provided code to access the camera footage and watch the salmon run on another day.
To conclude your visit, we recommend a quick look inside the old power station and a visit to the viewing platform below the rapids.
For those with energy to spare, a hike through the forest to the barbecue area in the Märransvältan Nature Reserve and to the Wurstseen lakes is highly recommended – an unforgettable experience. The path is very steep and sandy in one short section. If this climb is too strenuous for you, drive directly from the Fällfors car park to the Märransvältan barbecue area and enjoy the view from there.
