New to canoeing? No problem – this is the perfect place to gain your first experience

This flexible round trip, starting directly from our campsite, offers you the opportunity to practice your first paddling strokes on calm water and try out weight shifting in a canoe. Afterwards, you'll paddle upstream towards Svansele and enjoy the view of the small village from the river. Svansele was founded in 1764 but burned almost completely to the ground in 1870 after hot ashes from a fire pit were carried by the wind to the adjacent grass and ignited a blaze. Since there was no way to extinguish the raging fire, the villagers had to wait until it went out on its own. They then rebuilt their homes. Today, about 50 people still live in Svansele, and some houses are used as holiday homes.
You'll find several great barbecue areas on the islands off Svansele and on the sandy beach opposite Udden. This trip is perfect for canoeing beginners, as it can be lengthened or shortened as desired.
The Skellefteälven has several shallow sections that can be challenging for canoeists depending on the water level. Therefore, pay close attention to sandbars and rocky outcrops. Keep in mind that the current and wind strength will affect the effort and time required for the return trip.
