A relic of mining
Uddengruvan is an abandoned copper, zinc, lead, gold, and silver mine. It was operated by Boliden AB from 1972 to 1991. According to an unconfirmed oral tradition, the mine shaft in Uddengruvan was between 56 and 75 meters high, making it the third tallest in Sweden, after the shafts in Aitik and Stekenjokk.
Today, little remains of the abandoned mine, but the mineral-rich, turquoise-colored mine lake is impressive. Please note that contact with the minerals is harmful to your health. Swimming in the lake is therefore prohibited.
Follow the road around the mine lake. You will then reach a small hill on the opposite side with a beautiful panoramic view.
