Admire the magnificent blossoms of various orchid species

The Spärrmyrberget nature reserve is also a rewarding destination for plant enthusiasts. Among other species, the rare orchids Lady's Slipper (Cypripedium calceolus) and fairy/Venus slipper (Calypso bulbosa) grow here. They owe their flourishing to the high content of alkaline minerals in the rock and moraine. Together with the flowing groundwater, this creates ideal conditions for calciphilous plants.
The region's forests consist mainly of mixed woodlands with a high proportion of deciduous trees such as aspen and willow. In the southern part, there are also linden forests and herbaceous bogs. Lush vegetation grows along the small stream that flows through the nature reserve, including lily of the valley (Convallaria majalis), rough horsetail (Equisetum hyemale), chee reed grass (Calamagrostis epigeios), purple moor grass (Molinia caerulea), and alpine saw-wort (Saussurea alpina). Numerous charred tree stumps bear witness to previous forest fires.
The forest here is untouched and overgrown; there are no paths. The nature reserve is marked by white rings on the trees, but the orchid sites are not specifically marked and must be discovered on your own.
