Admire the magnificent blossoms of various orchid species

The Nymyrliden Nature Reserve is a rewarding destination for plant enthusiasts. Among other species, the rare orchid fairy/Venus slipper (Calypso bulbosa) thrives here, along with other lime-loving orchids such as the long-bracted green/frog orchid (Dactylorhiza viridis/Coeloglossum viride) and the common/eggleaf twayblade orchid (Neottia/Listera ovata). The Venus slipper orchid grows particularly well in this area because the bedrock and moraine are rich in alkaline minerals. Together with the flowing groundwater, this creates ideal conditions for lime-loving plants.
The forest consists of an older mixed woodland, dominated partly by pines and partly by spruces, interspersed with deciduous trees such as aspens and willows. Numerous charred tree stumps bear witness to past forest fires, and the forest has presumably regenerated after these fires.
The forest here is untouched and overgrown; there are no paths. The nature reserve is marked by white rings on the trees, but the orchid sites are not specifically marked and must be discovered on your own.
