The bedrock of the Israelsmyran region results in particularly mineral-rich groundwater. Lime-loving plants such as chee reed grass (Calamagrostis epigeios), tormentil (Potentilla erecta), rough horsetail (Equisetum hyemale), and herb Paris or true lover's knot (Paris quadrifolia) thrive in the depressions. Seven orchid species have also been discovered in the nature reserve.
Please note that all orchids in Sweden are protected. Therefore, please be especially careful near orchid habitats, both within and outside of nature reserves.
The forest here is untouched and overgrown; there are no paths. The nature reserve is marked by white rings on the trees, but the orchid sites are not specifically marked and must be discovered on your own.
